Video: Above the Emerald Island

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, January 6, 2015

The filmmaker who made this short video used a drone to capture some outstanding images from the landscapes in Ireland. The arial shots along the coastline are nothing short of spectacular and serve as another great example of the amazing things we can do today with a small camera and a remote controlled UAV. This is beautiful footage that will inspire thoughts of Irish adventure.

Video: Drones in the Mountains of Brazil

Posted by Unknown on Tuesday, December 30, 2014

The combination of a GoPro camera and an aerial drone have given amateur filmmakers a set of tools that simply haven't been available in the past. As a result, we're now seeing some amazing videos that simply weren't possible a few years ago. Case in point, this clip that was shot in the Sierra Fina region of Brazil, where a series of mountains rise above 2500 meters (8202 ft). The landscapes are captured in a truly beautiful fashion thanks to the use of drone. This looks like a beautiful place to visit, and we get a wonderful three-minute tour of the place that is simply tantalizing.

Video: Filmmaking in the Himalaya with a Drone (Part 2)

Posted by Unknown on Friday, September 26, 2014

A few weeks back I posted a video from my friend Jon Miller of The Rest of Everest fame. In that video, we got a behind the scenes look at a recent trip Jon made to the Himalaya, during which he took a couple of drones along with him to capture some amazing footage from across the region. Today, we have a second video from that trip, which once again not only includes fantastic images from the mountains, but also gives would-be Himalayan trekkers an opportunity to see what it is like to hike through that part of the world. This video will be of interest to other filmmakers of course, but there is a lot to like for the rest of us too. I hope you enjoy.

Video: Filmmaking in the Himalaya with a Drone

Posted by Unknown on Monday, September 8, 2014

Last spring, my friend Jon Miller, from the The Rest of Everest video podcast, took a drone with him when he traveled through Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet, capturing some spectacular footage from the Himalaya along the way. Last week, he posted another video from the trip, this time giving us a behind the scene's look at how he put his TurboAce Matrix E quadcopter drone through its paces. If you've wondered how these drones are used, or how you could possibly use them on your next project, this is a good video to watch. It also features some fantastic footage of the trek through the Khumbu Valley on the way to Everest Base Camp.

As we head into the long weekend here in the States, I thought we'd end a busy week with this fantastic video. It was shot using a DJI Phantom Vision 2+ drone and features some spectacular footage of Scotland. The music is the perfect accompaniment to the great images as well. Very beautiful and tranquil. I hope you enjoy.
