Video: Climbing Higher Cathedral Rock Yosemite - A Trailer for The Constant Gardner

Back in September, climbers Cheyne Lempe and Ethan Pringle joined forces to open a new route on the North Face of Higher Cathedral Rock in Yosemite. They competed that climb on September 13, and named the new route The Constant Gardner. Next spring, a documentary of that climb will be released, but you can get a sneak peek int he trailer below. To say it looks amazing would probably be an understatement. Yosemite Valley simply looks gorgeous from high up, and this is highly technical rock climbing at its finest. Can't wait to see more of this.

Video: Welcome to Union Glacier

We're just a few weeks away from the start of the 2014 Antarctic expedition season, and I can't think of a better way to get in the spirit than watching this video. It is a 54-minute long documentary about life at Union Glacier, where a team of research scientists work year round. This is not a story about a grand adventure skiing to the South Pole. It is, instead, a story about what it is like to live and work in Antarctica, where the grand adventure is the place that surrounds you. As someone who hopes to visit Antarctica someday, I found it very interesting. I hope you do too.

Video: The Relentless River of Everest

Yesterday's story about Ben Stookesberry exploring the Dudh Kosi River in Nepal seemed to have captured the attention of quite a few readers. In that post, I mentioned a British expedition that made the first descent of the river back in 1976, creating a classic paddling documentary called Everest by Canoe, which would later be renamed the Relentless River of Everest. In that post, I shared a trailer for the film, which was enough to give us a taste of what that expedition was like. Today, I have the full film, which is 45-minutes of intense expedition kayaking action. The film is a wonderful throw-back to a different era, and truly generates a great sense of adventure about what the explorers were doing in the Himalaya. This is a classic BBC film, and if you have the time, I highly recommend you watch the entire thing.
